Spoon River Anthology
Text by Edgar Lee Masters
Conceived and Directed by Jimmy Maize (MFA Directing Candidate, 2012)
Director Jimmy Maize re-imagines The Spoon River
Anthology, Edgar Lee Masters' influential 1915 book of
poetry. The collection of epitaphs vividly depicts life in the
fictional Midwestern town of Spoon River, as told from the
perspective of its deceased residents. Maize's adaptation
incorporates over 100 actors and original live music and dance,
capturing the innovative spirit of Masters' work and updating it
for contemporary audiences.
