The Government Inspector

The Government Inspector
Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher
from the original by Nikolai Gogol

Directed by Jesse Berger

Nikolai Gogolís epic farce pits corruption against chaos in a small Russian town. When the crooked bigwigs of a small village hear that a government inspector is planning an undercover visit to their community, their efforts to hide past vices spin out of control. Led by their frantic and cravenly dishonest mayor, the town weaves a web of lies, bribery, and utter nonsense that threatens to undo them all.
